Ahram Online reported that Octane, a digital payment solutions provider for transport fleets, has introduced O-Tolls — Egypt's inaugural digitized toll gate and tolls and scale payment system for commercial vehicles. The platform uses NFC technology to enable seamless transactions across more than 500 national road toll gates, serving light, medium, and heavy trucks nationwide.

Developed collaboratively with the National Company for Road Construction, Development, and Management, O-Tolls is embedded directly into Egypt's official toll and scale ecosystem — giving the solution national reach and long-term sustainability from day one.

The initiative addresses Egypt's logistics sector, which still relies heavily on cash transactions. According to the coverage, road tolls represent 10–15% of operating costs for distribution companies, making digitization strategically valuable.
